I cannot say enough wonderful things about Healing Touch and the compassion they showed our family during one of the most difficult moments we've had to face. From the moment I submitted an inquiry about end-of-life care for our 14-year-old cat, Nermal, I felt unbelievably supported. Every interaction was handled with kindness, patience, compassion, and an understanding of just how painful this decision was for our family. Being able to say goodbye to Nermal at home meant more to us than I can adequately express. There was no stressful car ride, no carrier, no unfamiliar veterinary office, and no fear. Instead, he was surrounded by the people and animals who loved him, in the place where he felt safe. Nermal was able to spend his final moments peacefully outside on the porch he loved to lay on, with his family beside him. There was something incredibly beautiful about being able to give him that kind of goodbye after 14 years of giving us his love. Healing Touch treated Nermal with dignity and treated our family with such genuine compassion throughout the entire experience. They never made us feel rushed, and I felt supported every step of the way. While I hope it is a very long time before we ever need their services again, there is absolutely no question that I will reach out to Healing Touch when the time comes for another one of our beloved pets to cross the rainbow bridge. Saying goodbye to our old dog was so difficult. I cannot imagine putting him through the trauma of a drive to the vet and being in a strange place for his last hour. From the very beginning, their website was incredibly informative, every question we had was answered so quickly and thoughtfully—it truly made a difficult decision just a little easier. On June 15th, Dr. Kendra helped our little Milly find peace. Milly would have celebrated her 16th birthday on July 29th. We adopted her from a shelter in Iron River MI when she was 3 years old. The obvious signs that the end was coming started in mid-May. Having gone through this 5 times in our lifetime, we had already made the decision to have her at home when the time came. I made the initial call and talked with Mike telling him what was going on and that we wanted her last moments to be as stress free and comfortable as possible. He explained the entire process and told me to take my time making the appointment. He also told me to call anytime, even if it was just to talk, cry or scream. In the end, I rescheduled 3 times. Everyone was so understanding. When Milly made it clear it was time, I called. There was no problem finding a time that worked for us. That Monday morning, I took her outside and put her on the grass. She wobbled a few steps, stood in the sun and she made the decision that this was the place. With Dr. Kendra and Dr. Beth, we sat on the deck in the sun. Milly laid on my lap and raised her head to sniff the gentle breeze. A little bird sat on the railing chirping quietly. We told them about Milly, sharing stories of what a gentle little thing she was and some of her silliness. Dr. Kendra made it clear that we were to take our time. They listened to our stories and took the time to get to know Milly, that she wasn't just another pet on the schedule. When we felt ready, Dr. Kendra gently eased Milly into a restful sleep. Then, again when we were ready, she gave Milly the peace she so deserved. They cried with us. We were not alone in our sadness. We still sat there. Dr. clipped a few of her white curls for me. When we were ready, my husband carried her to the car where a bed had been prepared for her. Don placed her in the bed and Dr. Kendra carefully covered her. We felt completely at ease letting them take our little one, knowing she was being cared for with love and respect. Dr. Kendra delivered her ashes and again hugged me, offering her sympathy. I told her we were trying to just be grateful that Milly had chosen to share her life with us. Since then I have reached out via email to Mike several times. Reading his responses have helped me when the loss seems overwhelming. This is the hardest thing any pet owner will ever have to experience. While it was and hasn't been easy, we will forever be grateful to Healing Touch for their care and support.

Dr Kendra Hodge came to our home yesterday after we had made the gut wrenching decision to end our sweet 13 year old black Labs suffering. Healing Touch prepared us for months before we needed them through their health tracking app, so we could be ready. But despite our best efforts, our 13 year old beloved lab went from a great weekend of pleasant outdoor play to losing control of her back legs and her systems overnight. After much consideration we decided this is what we wanted for Cheyenne. And it was ABSOLUTELY the right decision. Cheyenne did not have to be loaded into the car and taken anywhere; she was able to be at home with all of us that loved her so and where she had her own bed and the things she was comfortable with. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better last experience with my sweet Curry. Dr. Jordan was our vet for laying him to rest. She was sensitive and incredibly accommodating. She gave us alone time with him before and after the event. I am recovering from a foot surgery, so I couldn't do much besides lay in bed. So we had Curry lying on my body with his head on my chest (pictured below). I realized this was how I wanted him to go – drifting to sleep in the safety of his mama's arms. Dr. Jordan actually got onto the bed with the medications for him and didn't ask us to move him. She helped place a pee pad under him for extra insurance for our mattress. She was so gentle and informed us of every step of the process, and assured me that the twitches were normal (which admittedly caused a bit of anxiety). She listened to us rave about Curry's love, personality, and then heard out why we decided it was time and supported our decision. She cried with us as he passed. She let my husband carry him down the stairs one final time to load him into her car and gave ample time for us to say farewell before closing the trunk. Healing Touch uses Forrest Run Cremation Services to cremate your pet. My experience with them was unfortunately not as smooth, but the trust Healing Touch puts in them is reassuring, and given how good they were to Curry, I feel I can extend trust to them as well. Curry was truly a unique and beautiful dog and deserved a euthanization in the comfort of home. I am so thankful that Healing Touch gave him the final moments he deserved.

Having to put your pet to sleep is one of the hardest decisions to make. I was so afraid to do it because I felt like I was giving up on my kitty. He was my soul kitty, my shadow. Dr. Kendra was nothing short of an angel. She came into our home full of love and compassion. She talked me through everything that was going to happen. It helped me know what to expect. I would recommend Healing Touch and Dr. Kendra for any of your pets that are ready to cross the bridge. My guy hated the vet, hated the cat carrier, hated car rides. When we got our first cat, Alastor, Kendra was extremely helpful in letting us know what we needed and what to expect. One thing that stands out, is that she told us whatever we planned to do with Alastor, we should start doing it within the first year. We started cutting his nails every week and now after several years, he is usually purring while we clip. We camp in an RV a lot. We started taking him with us as soon as we got him, and now he travels very nicely in a carrier and our camper is his home away from home. She has always given us the information we needed to make educated decisions about his healthcare. She did the surgery to neuter him when he was about 6 months old, and put us at ease before the surgery and let us know just what we needed to do after the surgery. We contacted Healing Touch when we came to the painful realization that the time had come for our beloved Yorkie, Cookie, to cross the rainbow bridge. Email communication was smooth. And they were able to accommodate a request to move up the date when Cookie took a turn. Dr. Kendra was so compassionate. She sat on our living room floor and walk use through the steps. Asked if we had any questions and gave us all the time we needed. While the situation is never a good one, being able to send her off while she lounged on her couch (her favorite spot!) was a blessing. Would highly recommend their services.

She had a calming presence and made me feel like I could have as much time as I needed to be ready to start the process. A few weeks ago, our beautiful 12 year old German Shepherd’s health took a sudden turn for the worse. This is one of those services I didn't know I would ever use, let alone want in my life. For which my wife and I are grateful. Our 14yr old Yorkie had been on the decline and my wife was able to schedule an appointment relatively simply. More importantly, when things turned faster than we were ready for, an earlier appointment reschedule was available and a simple process. When Dr. Kendra arrived, she was the most compassionate person one could ask for walking up to the door. She recognized it was rough and, even with this being a "job", asked if I wanted hug. When she came in the house, it was all on us. She answered any questions and went through the steps thoroughly and ensure my wife and I were ready (as much as we could be). Through it all, there was not a single indication of, "okay I got other work" or any particular rush. When it was time to take our pup to be transported, I asked if I could carry her, and that was allowed (some professions have weird rules, so didn't know), which was allowed. This service, combined with Dr. Kendra's compassion, will ensure we use this service if (and probably when) the time comes again.
