In Memory of Reno

February 24, 2009 — October 5, 2026

Reno- you were the love of my life. No one has taught me more about life than you. We shared the pain of losses together, we struggled to build our home together, but mostly importantly, we grew up together. You taught me love without judgement. You shared in every moment of life with me- good and bad- so I never had to face anything alone. You provided calm in the most turbulent storms and joy in some of the darkest times.

I will never forget your goofy quirks such as your obsession with toes and how much you loved the smell of Taylor's hair. No one has given me the amount of backsass that you did and I greatly miss our daily conversations. The passion with which you suckled your blankets will be forever missed- no one has the zest for life like you did. You will forever be the goofy boy who sprinted the yard so hard he ripped a toenail out (which never really grew back- it was our favorite paw<3). You always had such an old man soul that I hardly noticed you aging over these last 17 years.

You were the most beautiful puggle I've ever seen- until I met you I thought they only had one real color but you, your brown was so vibrant with hints of reddish undertones, I will never meet another dog- pug, beagle, or otherwise- with a more beautiful coloring than you. Your left ear was always a favorite spot of mine because it looked like someone spilled powdered sugar on it- just a sprinkling of white coloring at the tip of it. But you didn't need more sugar, you were already the sweetest boy I could have ever imagined.

Our house is a little quieter nowadays, a little bit colder, and we're all just a little bit lost now without you... but we know one day our family will be complete again. We're grateful the torments of a failing body are no longer holding you back. I know deep in my heart of hearts if you had things your way, you would've stayed with me every day for the rest of my life- no one watched over me like you did. But this is the cruel reality of life, the time we are given is never truly enough.

It is said that grief is the price we pay for the privilege of love and if that's the truth, then I hope you understand just how much you truly meant to us, even Chase, because we are just utterly heartbroken without you by our side. You were our big brother, our first born granddog, and the missing piece that made my heart whole. Words will never properly describe how we feel about you, or how much the loss of you will change us, but please know you will never be forgotten. I will forever tell the stories of your attitude, how much you loved to cuddle, and how you were just the greatest guy to be around.

Reno, renfro, my mijito- I love you with all of me. You were my best friend and I will forever be broken by your loss, but I am also forever a better person for having known you. Please keep orange kitty and lady safe on the other side while you wait for us; please keep an eye over our family as we continue to navigate a life without the center of our world.

I love you Reno, forever and always<3
